WHO WE ARE
The Integrated Community Center (ICC) is a nonprofit organization based in Kuwait focused on migrant workers’ rights in both their host and home countries. Our community is specifically comprised of a collection of local workers’ associations, all focused on the embetterment of life and labor conditions. The ICC fosters positive, progressive change by supporting migrant workers in overcoming exploitation, abuse, human trafficking and the many socioeconomic challenges targeting disempowered migrant populations. From promoting democratic values and dignity for all, to our deep involvement in securing people’s livelihoods through local laws and global mandates, the ICC serves the many migrant communities in partnership with regional and international institutions.
The ICC is a fully registered private sector organization co-founded by veteran migrant rights advocate Mary Ann Abunda and local community organizer Yousef H. Alshammari.
Our Vision, Values & Approach
At the Integrated Community Center, dignity for all is at the heart of our holistic functions and activities. With unwavering belief and commitment, we are thoroughly convinced that the integrity of labor is crucially connected to the wellbeing of a society. Guiding our concrete conviction are the core values of the ICC which revolve around dignity, integrity, competence, social justice, education and building real human relationships. Our approach to serving the community and being members in it all revolves around abolishing the Kafala/Sponsorship system through intersectional, collective and rights-based work.
Our Mission
To empower the people we serve, both migrants and nationals, towards a more equitable, justice-based society by fortifying, elevating and securing their dignity in labor and life alike.
